Inventors:
- Minneapolis MN, US
Thomas Egli - Volketswil, CH
Rosemary Thompson - Seen, CH
Markus Froehlich - Balterswil, CH
Giuseppe Cicerchia - Winterthur, CH
Jack A. Dant - St. Paul MN, US
Thomas O. Viker - Arden Hills MN, US
Kevin R. Ley - Elk River MN, US
International Classification:
A61B 17/70
Abstract:
A spinal stabilization system generally comprises first and second anchor members configured to be secured to first and second vertebrae within a patient's body, a flexible element secured to the first anchor member, and a rigid element secured to the second anchor member. An end portion of the rigid element is coupled to an end portion of the flexible so that the system is able to provide both rigid and dynamic stabilization. The coupling is maintained even if the flexible element relaxes after a period of time within the patient's body.

Adjustable Bandwidth Filter For Process Variable Transmitter

US Patent:
6594613, Jul 15, 2003
Filed:
Dec 10, 1998
Appl. No.:
09/209134
Inventors:
Kevin Ley - Coon Rapids MN
David C. Bohn - Eden Prairie MN
David L. Wehrs - Eden Prairie MN
Assignee:
Rosemount Inc. - Eden Prairie MN
International Classification:
H04B 1500
US Classification:
702140, 702190, 702191, 702193, 327553, 327555
Abstract:
A process variable transmitter providing a transmitter output representing a process variable sensed by a sensor. The transmitter has a filter with a bandwidth which is automatically adjusted based on noise detected in a sensor output. When the transmitter senses higher sensor noise levels, it automatically decreases the bandwidth to damp noise in the transmitter output. When the transmitter senses lower sensor noise levels, it automatically increases the bandwidth to provide faster response to changes in the process variable.

Frauke RININSLAND - Santa Fe NM, US
Kevin LEY - Santa Fe NM, US
Wensheng XIA - Santa Fe NM, US
Duncan MCBRANCH - Santa Fe NM, US
David G. WHITTEN - Santa Fe NM, US
Assignee:
QTL BIOSYSTEMS, LLC - Santa Fe NM
International Classification:
C12Q 1/70
G01N 33/543
C12Q 1/68
G01N 33/53
G01N 33/552
US Classification:
435 5, 436518, 435 6, 436527, 436501, 436528
Abstract:
A chemical composition including a fluorescent polymer and a receptor that is specific for both a target biological agent and a chemical moiety including (a) a recognition element, (b) a tethering element, and (c) a property-altering element is disclosed. Both the fluorescent polymer and the receptor are co-located on a support. When the chemical moiety is bound to the receptor, the property-altering element is sufficiently close to the fluorescent polymer to alter the fluorescence emitted by the polymer. When an analyte sample is introduced, the target biological agent, if present, binds to the receptor, thereby displacing the chemical moiety from the receptor, resulting in an increase of detected fluorescence. Assays for detecting the presence of a target biological agent are also disclosed.
