Abstract:

An atmospheric water harvester includes a cooling member over which humid air flows to condense moisture from the atmosphere. The cooling member may be the evaporator of a conventional, gas vapor-based refrigeration circuit. If a gas vapor-based refrigeration circuit is used, the compressor of the circuit may be variable speed. A fan or impeller used to move air through the system may also be variable speed. Preferred embodiments are reconfigurable between at least two operational configurations such that to varying degrees the incoming air may be pre-cooled, before it passes over the cooling member, by heat exchange with colder air that has already flowed over the cooling member.

Methods and associated structures for rapidly processing messages in a distributed computing application. Rules are stored in structures defined by the present invention and methods associated therewith rapidly process the boolean predicates of the rules to determine what actions need be taken in the distributed computing environment in response to receipt of a message published by a publishing application in the distributed computing environment. Abstract:

An automobile transmission hydraulic oil fill system includes a transmission oil pan and a two-piece standpipe system. The two-piece stand-pipe system includes a clinch nut connected to the oil pan and having a threaded bore opening through the oil pan. A stand-pipe is fixed to the clinch nut. The stand-pipe includes a longitudinal bore in fluid communication with the threaded bore. An end cap defining a free end of the stand-pipe prevents entrance of hydraulic oil into the longitudinal bore of the stand-pipe during hydraulic oil fill of the transmission. Multiple ports created in a side wall of the stand-pipe allow entrance of the hydraulic oil into the longitudinal bore and to flow out of the threaded bore of the clinch nut. Each of the ports include an edge. The edges of the ports define a hydraulic oil fill level of the transmission.

Abstract:

Apparatus and a method using solid state track recorder (SSTR) metrology are disclosed to accurately measure small amounts of actinide pollution in water. A relatively small sample cell contains a fluidic sample and carries a SSTR. Sample cell configuration allows use of the fluidic sample itself as an asymptotic fission source for the SSTR and allows simultaneous irradiation of a plurality of such sample cells in existing thermal neutron irradiators. The metrology process comprises 1) obtaining a plurality of fluidic samples to be tested in sample cells containing SSTRs, 2) irradiating the sample cells uniformly with a neutron fluence of selected energy for a predetermined time, 3) determining base line actinide concentration from observed track density radiation activity in the SSTRs by calculation, by inclusion of a standard solid actinide deposit on an SSTR in an irradiated batch, or by inclusion of standard fluidic samples of known actinide concentration in an irradiated sample batch, and 4) determining the actinide concentration above the base line concentration in the tested samples by analyzing the SSTRs in each sample cell by known track counting and computational methods.
