Insect Harborage And Feeding System

US Patent:
2017026, Sep 21, 2017
Filed:
Mar 21, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/465244
Inventors:
- Raleigh NC, US
Stephen P. Land - Raleigh NC, US
Richard E. Hudson - Raleigh NC, US
Jesse T. Dean - Willow Springs NC, US
International Classification:
A01K 67/033
B65D 85/50
E04B 1/72
F25D 25/04
A01M 1/02
A01M 1/10
Abstract:
A harborage for growing and harvesting insects includes a substrate and a mesh material. The substrate has first and second edges extending along the length of the substrate and separated by a shorter width. The substrate includes an absorbent material and is formed into at least one channel extending in a direction along the length of the substrate, in some cases such that the channel is perpendicular to the width and has a depth that is less than the width of the substrate. The mesh material is disposed on the substrate, extends along substantially all of the length of the substrate and includes openings that are smaller than juveniles of a target insect, but sufficiently large to permit liquid feeding of the target insect through the mesh material, which is affixed along the substrate so as to prevent insect egress.

Insect Traps And Monitoring System

US Patent:
2018002, Feb 1, 2018
Filed:
Oct 16, 2015
Appl. No.:
15/550925
Inventors:
- Raleigh NC, US
William Stockton Howell - Raleigh NC, US
Stephen Paul Land - Cary NC, US
Lisa Ann Lyons - Hillsborough NC, US
International Classification:
A01M 1/02
A01M 1/10
Abstract:
A discrete and safe automated insect monitoring system includes a housing, an interior chamber within the housing, and a light source arranged within the housing to illuminate at least a portion of a floor surface of the interior chamber. A multi-pixel optical sensor is arranged within the housing so that a field of view of the sensor comprehends a substantial portion of the floor surface. A processing circuit arranged within the housing receives optical data from the multi-pixel optical sensor, analyzes the optical data to detect the intrusion of an insect or other object into the interior chamber by comparing most recently received optical data to previously received optical data, and generates an indication in response to detecting the intrusion of an insect or other object. Detection and/or classification results can be wirelessly forwarded to another device, to alert appropriate personnel.

Method And System For Automatically Displaying An Image And A Product In A Page Based On Contextual Interaction And Metadata

US Patent:
6901378, May 31, 2005
Filed:
Mar 2, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/517134
Inventors:
Debra L. Linker - Sammamish WA, US
Stephen David Land - Seattle WA, US
Jeffrey Vincent Gelfuso - Sammamish WA, US
William T. Radcliffe - Redmond WA, US
Assignee:
Corbis Corporation - Seattle WA
International Classification:
G06F017/60
US Classification:
705 27
Abstract:
The invention provides a method, system and computer-readable medium for storing images with related information in a relational database and using the information to order available products for a selected image over a network. Tag and business information may be associated with an image in the database and a unique image identifier is generated for each image. Different types of searches of the relational database may be performed including product based and image based. Affirmative results from searches are returned as images and/or products that are displayed in pages. The returned images also include information indicating available products. The selection of a returned image causes a cut-down version of the image and all of the available products to be displayed in the same page. When an available product is selected, a server enables a transaction for a user to order the selected product. A Hyper Text Transport Protocol (HTTP) Cookie is employed to store a copy of a client identifier at a client.
