A parachute extraction line severing apparatus comprising an extensible cutting head depending by means of a power cord from a power cord take-up assembly The cutting head includes a housing having one or more cutting devices and a viper line extending about a parachute extraction line and normally disposed in an out-of-the-way position along the interior walls of a cargo compartment. The opposite ends of the viper line are connected to and adapted to be wound about adjacent spools of a take-up reel mounted in said housing. In the event of a cargo airdrop malfunction, rotation of the spools is effective to gather the viper line into embracing relation with the extraction line to generate a reactive force drawing the cutting head and blades into engagement with the extraction line to sever the same. Once the extraction line is severed releasing the reaction force, a spring loaded spindle in the take-up assembly retracts the power cord carrying the cutting head therewith into its normal inoperative position.

A diagnostic system for rapidly trouble-shooting safety system induced shutdowns of production facilities such as combustion systems. A passive monitoring interface apparatus is mounted at the combustion system which includes a detector network coupled with the power source of the combustion safety system itself to provide an interface output condition representing the circuit status of each electrical contact. An identifier component is incorporated in the interface apparatus along with a connector assembly. The detector network may be manually programmed utilizing a terminal strip and jumpering to accommodate it to wide range of safety system circuit architecture. The apparatus further includes a connector for coupling via flexible cable with a portable interrogator assembly which is microprocessor driven and incorporates non-volatile memory retaining the configuration data associated with each numerically identified interface apparatus. A line technician carries this interrogator assembly to the vicinity of such interface apparatus for trouble-shooting purposes. The memory retained configuration data is utilized to configure the interrogator assembly for each facility and the assembly further includes a modem-based telecommunications capability such that the data may be downloaded to a remote consulting expert.

The centrifugal clutch includes a drum, a hub, at least two friction pads, and at least one leaf spring between each respective friction pad. The leaf spring includes a frame and an indicator tab. The indicator tab of the leaf spring is configured to indicate when at least one friction pad of the centrifugal clutch is in need of replacement. This indication may be in the form of an audible sound generated when the indicator tab engages the internally facing surface of the drum. The indicator tab may be configured to only be able to engage the internally facing surface of the drum when the friction material of the friction pad has a thickness suggesting it is worn.

The wear limiter may be configured as part of the leaf spring, as part of the friction pad assemblies, and/or as a standalone component. The wear limiter is configured to prevent the radially outward facing surface of at least one friction pad assembly from engaging the internally facing surface of the drum when the centrifugal clutch is in the extended position and the friction material of at least one friction pad assembly is worn to a worn thickness. This may prevent the centrifugal clutch from engaging when the friction pad is worn.

The purpose of the balance bar is to permit a rider, such as a child, to learn to use a bicycle while a second person, such as a parent or coach, can use the bar or handle to stabilize the bicycle when necessary. Since the bar or handle is pivotable, it easily adjusts to persons of different height and reach, so that they can hold the balance bar comfortably during use. The balance bar has an L-shaped portion stop portion, to prevent the bar or handle from falling onto the ground. This balance bar is of unitary construction, to reduce manufacturing and assembly costs.
