Fluid Line Autoconnect Apparatus And Methods For Medical Treatment System

US Patent:
2015023, Aug 20, 2015
Filed:
May 4, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/703674
Inventors:
- Manchester NH, US
David W. McGill - Alpharetta GA, US
David J. Hibbard - Bedford NH, US
James D. Dale - Nashua NH, US
Matthew J. Finch - Somerville MA, US
Jesse T. Bodwell - Manchester NH, US
Jason A. Demers - Manchester NH, US
Assignee:
DEKA Products Limited Partnership - Manchester NH
International Classification:
A61M 1/28
A61M 5/168
A61M 39/28
A61M 39/10
A61M 39/20
Abstract:
A medical infusion fluid handling system, such as an automated peritoneal dialysis system, may be arranged to de-cap and connect one or more lines (such as solution lines) with one or more spikes or other connection ports on a fluid handling cassette. This feature may reduce a likelihood of contamination since no human interaction is required to de-cap and connect the one or more lines and the one or more spikes. For example, the automated peritoneal dialysis system may include a carriage arranged to receive the one or more lines each having a connector end and a cap. The carriage may move along a first direction so as to move the connector ends of the one or more lines along the first direction, and a cap stripper may be arranged to engage with the caps on the solution lines on the carriage. The cap stripper may move in a second direction transverse to the first direction, as well as to move with the carriage along the first direction.

Devices And Methods For Treating Heart Failure

Carol A. DEVELLIAN - Topsfield MA, US
International Classification:
A61M 27/00
A61F 2/24
Abstract:
A device for implanting into an atrial septum of a patient. In some embodiments, the device has a core region to be disposed in an opening in the atrial septum; a distal retention region adapted to engage tissue on a left atrial side of the septal wall; a proximal retention region adapted to engage tissue on a right atrial side of the septal wall; and a retrieval region comprising a plurality of retrieval members, each retrieval member comprising a connector at a proximal end, the connector being adapted to connect to a delivery system. The device has a delivery configuration and a deployed configuration, the core region, distal retention region and proximal retention region each having a smaller diameter in the delivery configuration than in the deployed configuration, the retrieval member connectors being disposed proximal to and radially outward from the opening in the deployed configuration.

Devices, Systems And Methods To Treat Heart Failure

US Patent:
8157860, Apr 17, 2012
Filed:
Mar 8, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/719843
Inventors:
Edward McNamara - Chelmsford MA, US
David Celermajer - Sydney, AU
Stephen J. Forcucci - Winchester MA, US
Hiroatsu Sugimoto - Cambridge MA, US
Matthew J. Finch - Amherst NH, US
Assignee:
DC Devices, Inc. - Tewksbury MA
International Classification:
A61F 2/06
A61F 2/82
US Classification:
623 126, 623 115, 623 124
Abstract:
Several unique intracardiac pressure vents, placement catheters, methods of placement and methods of treating heart failure are presented. The intracardiac pressure vents presented allow sufficient flow from the left atrium to the right atrium to relieve elevated left atrial pressure and resulting patient symptoms but also limit the amount of flow from the right atrium to the left atrium to minimize the potential for thrombus or other embolic material from entering the arterial circulation.

Methods, Systems, And Devices For Resizable Intra-Atrial Shunts

US Patent:
2016002, Jan 28, 2016
Filed:
Oct 8, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/878710
Inventors:
Edward I. MCNAMARA - Chelmsford MA, US
Michael W. SUTHERLAND - Pelham NH, US
Matthew J. FINCH - Medford MA, US
Stephen J. FORCUCCI - Winchester MA, US
International Classification:
A61F 2/24
A61M 27/00
Abstract:
Devices and methods for treating heart disease by normalizing elevated blood pressure in the left and right atria of a heart of a mammal are disclosed. Devices may include an adjustable hydraulic diameter and/or a removable and/or replaceable shunt portion. Devices may include absorbable materials, the absorption of which directly or indirectly causes alterations of the fluid flow capacities the devices.

Devices And Methods For Treating Patent Ductus Arteriosus

US Patent:
2016012, May 5, 2016
Filed:
Nov 3, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/931817
Inventors:
- Tewksbury MA, US
Matthew J. Finch - Medford MA, US
Stephen J. Forcucci - Winchester MA, US
Carol A. Devellian - Topsfield MA, US
Assignee:
CORVIA MEDICAL, INC. - Tewksbury MA
International Classification:
A61B 17/12
Abstract:
The present teachings provide a device to close a ductus arteriosus percutaneously. One aspect of the present teachings provides a device comprising at least one flange portion configured to be positioned against a vascular wall outside one end of a ductus arteriosus, and a body portion configured to be positioned inside the ductus arteriosus. The body portion of the device has a length adjustable in order for the device to fit inside patients with various ductus arteriosus lengths. The at least one flange portion of the device has pivotability in order for at least one flange to deflect from the longitudinal axis of the body portion so that the deployed device can be positioned at a treatment site allowing the discs to sit flat against the vascular tissue to promote closure while avoiding disruption of flow within the pulmonary artery and aorta or applying excess pressure to the surrounding vascular tissue. The body portion of the device could also at least partially block the ductus arteriosus, and thereby reduce or obstruct blood flow through the ductus arteriosus. The device includes a delivery profile and a deployment profile. Another aspect of the present teachings provides methods of using a device of the present teachings.

Devices, Systems And Methods To Treat Heart Failure

US Patent:
8172896, May 8, 2012
Filed:
Mar 8, 2010
Appl. No.:
