In a distributed computer program, active software probes in the form of small functions built into an application are invoked by another application. When invoked, an active probe provides a positive response if the service being requested is available from the probed package. If the service is not available, the probe will fail alerting the software package installer that there is a problem. The active probes thus perform a functionality check for the software package, not a check merely based on the packages release number. Because the probe is active, it is capable of checking for subtending capabilities that the calling application may not realize are necessary for this service. This ensures full coverage of the test while hiding some implementation details from the calling application. By invoking these active probes upon installation of a new package, the installer can know immediately if the package has all services necessary to run correctly, thus reducing the possibility of a bad software package installation. The active software probes are thus capable of verifying software package compatibility at the time of program compilation as well as for program upgrades.

This apparatus uses cladding to cover the inner surfaces of a door frame. The cladding also overlaps the door nose and its mounting screws. Two-sided adhesive tape on one edge of the cladding attaches the cladding to the door nose. The cladding has a perpendicular integral fin which extends into an opposed mating slit parallel to the door frame edge in the door frame inner surface. This combination aligns the cladding parallel to the door frame and holds theh cladding in place against tangential forces. An outwardly extending groove from the edge of the door frame opposite the door nose and parallel to the edge terminates in a keyway. The edge of the cladding opposite the nose has an perpendicular inset, which is sized to fit within the groove in the door frame. The inset terminates in an inwardly directed projecting key. The end of this key is pointed to engage the door frame keyway to hold that edge of the cladding securely in place.

The guide mechanism, when mounted, is oriented about the channel defined by the nose of the nail gun. The guide mechanism includes a partially pre-compressed spring that induces a bias on a pivoting arm such that the arm is caused to protrude at least partially into the channel. The arm is thus positioned to continuously exert a force on the nails as they are driven down the channel past the arm. Because the spring is only partially pre-compressed, the positioning of the arm is responsive to changes in conditions inside the channel, such as when the head of a nail passes by the arm. The force exerted by the arm, under the influence of the spring, acts substantially along the radial axis of the nail, and is exerted on the nail during at least a portion of the time that the nail is being impelled by the driving mechanism of the nail gun. The result of the force thus exerted is that every nail is pushed to a desired position in the channel, thereby ensuring consistent orientation of the nails as they exit the nail gun.

The device can securely send the test result to the cloud system by transmitting the unencrypted data block and the encrypted data block to the cloud system via the communication channel.
