A system and method for acquiring position information of a movable apparatus relevant to a specific axis is disclosed. In one embodiment, an interferometer generates first and second beams and various beam-steering members are located to define beam path segments for the two beams, but no beam path segment varies in length in unity with displacements of the movable apparatus along the specific axis. In another or the same embodiment, each beam path segment in which the first beam either impinges or has been reflected from the movable apparatus is symmetrical to a corresponding beam path segment of the second beam. The movable apparatus may be a wafer stage in which the “specific axis” is the exposure axis of a projection lens, but with all optical members which cooperate with the stage being located beyond the ranges of the wafer stage in directions perpendicular to the lithographic exposure axis.

Abstract:

A method and apparatus for improving film stability and moisture resistance of a borophosphosilicate film. The BPSG film according to the present invention is formed under plasma conditions in which high and low frequency RF power is employed to generate the plasma. The high frequency power supply provides most of the energy to break the molecules in the process gas thereby forming the plasma and promoting the necessary reactions. The low frequency power supply regulates and controls ion bombardment of the BPSG film as it is formed. Abstract:

An orientation independent metal-air power source utilizing convective airflow for enhancing power output for powering a load. A battery housing for enclosing at least one metal-air cell has an air cavity at each end. Between the two cavities is an elongated central passageway. The cavities are preferably disk-shaped and include a circular resistance element in their outer periphery. A central gravity switch with a conductive ball and a plurality of contact pairs is coupled to the resistance elements. Each of the contact pairs is associated with a particular angular orientation of the metal-air battery. At least a portion of one of the resistance elements is heated when the ball comes into contact with one of the contact pairs. A plurality of isolating passageways pass sufficient airflow to the oxygen electrode, while the resistance element portion is heated, and restricts airflow to the oxygen electrode when the resistance element portion is not heated. The convective airflow is permitted to rise through the housing and across the oxygen electrode of the metal-air battery regardless of the angular orientation of the metal-air battery.
