System And Method For Including Origination Time And Update Lifetime With Updateable Messages

US Patent:
6055413, Apr 25, 2000
Filed:
Jul 21, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/120206
Inventors:
Gary James Morse - Boca Raton FL
Frederick Loring Kampe - Boynton Beach FL
Robert Nathan Nelms - Lake Worth FL
Hagai Ohel - Coconut Creek FL
Kenneth Greene - Southlake TX
Assignee:
Motorola, Inc. - Schaumburg IL
International Classification:
H04Q 714
US Classification:
455 381
Abstract:
An updateable message encoder/transmitter (100) has a processor (109) for encoding messages and message updates. A message includes an origination time (191), a version number (410) and an update lifetime indicator (424), and a message update includes the origination time (191) and the version number. A transmitter (120) broadcasts the message and the message update message receiver/decoder (130) receives the message and the message update, a processor (212) processes the message to determine when the message update is being received. The processor checks the update lifetime indicator of the message indicated by the message update to determine if the message to which the message update is intended can be updated. A comparator compares the origination time of the message with the origination time of the message update to determine if the message update is an out-of-sequence message update.

Video Display Control System Having Block Write With Opaque Pattern Control Expansion

US Patent:
5633661, May 27, 1997
Filed:
Nov 21, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/342531
Inventors:
Gary J. Morse - Boca Raton FL
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F 1200
US Classification:
345186
Abstract:
A video random access memory is disclosed that performs a block write function for an opaque pattern color expansion. The video RAM, or VRAM, uses an input buffer for receiving and holding video input information. A first color register is coupled to the input buffer and holds a first color value. A second color register coupled to the input buffer is used to hold a second color value. A gate multiplexor couples to both first color register and the second color register with a color selection register being used to gate which color value from the first color register or the second color register should be asserted. A write control logic selects which color values are to be displayed. A third or mask register is coupled to the input buffer and the write control logic such that, based upon data from the input buffer, the mask register selects which pixel location is to be changed based on the color value selected by the color selection register as received from the write control logic.

Method And Apparatus For Optimizing The Display Of Forms In A Data Processing System

US Patent:
5771371, Jun 23, 1998
Filed:
Sep 4, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/709337
Inventors:
Gary James Morse - Boca Raton FL
Stephen Patrick Thompson - Delray Beach FL
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06T 1100
US Classification:
395501
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for increasing efficiency in displaying characters on a display within the data processing system. A plurality of processes for displaying characters on the display in a data processing system are provided. Each of the processes requires a different amount of processor resources to display characters on the display. One of the processes is selected such that the selected process provides a more efficient display of characters on the display than other processes. Characters may be displayed by caching font data in system memory of the data processing system. Glyph bitmaps for a particular character may be moved from the cache to a graphics adapter utilizing a permanent move instruction available in the CPU. Characters are moved to the graphics adapter on a fixed scanline basis, either encompassing the entire width of the character or the entire string of characters on a line.

Embedded Protocol

US Patent:
5910778, Jun 8, 1999
Filed:
Aug 28, 1997

The apparatus includes first impeller means, supported by a first shaft adapted to rotate about the axis, and situated in the top portion of the chamber, for fluidizing the divided solid material in the top portion of the chamber to thereby prevent the divided solid material from clogging within the top portion of the chamber. Additionally, the apparatus includes second impeller means, spaced from the first impeller means, supported by a second shaft adapted to rotate about the axis, and situated in the bottom portion of the chamber, for radially dispersing the pressurized gas and for fluidizing the divided solid material in the bottom portion of the chamber. The means for introducing pressurized gas may be affixed to the second impeller means and adapted to rotate therewith to thereby aid in the radial distribution of the pressurized gas.

Circuit Board Contact Guide Pattern

US Patent:
4736275, Apr 5, 1988
Filed:
Feb 9, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/012588
Inventors:
Jerry A. Kendall - Lewisville TX
Gary L. Morse - The Colony TX
David M. Webb - Lewisville TX
Assignee:
Augat Inc. - Mansfield MA
International Classification:
H05K 111
US Classification:
361403
Abstract:
A circuit pattern on the surface of a printed circuit board is used as a guide and connection circuit for closely spaced contacts of a connector to be connected to the circuit board. The contacts of the connector are closely spaced and possibly would not contact the connection pads or might be located between connection pads because of the close spacing of the contacts. The guides formed from circuit patterns accurately guide the connector to the connector pads on the circuit board and place each contact over its respective circuit connection pad.
