A matching tic-tac-toe score card for marking results and determining the winner of the game may be included. Although designed primarily as a toy for children, it has appeal to those of all ages.

A forced convection furnace gas plenum having a mixing chamber to provide a heated gas of a more uniform temperature is presented. The plenum includes a heating element for heating gas and an orifice plate for metering the flow of heated gas to product within the furnace. A heater plate having larger apertures than those of the orifice plate is disposed between the heating element and the orifice plate. The apertures in the heater plate are sized to allow heated gas to pass therethrough into the mixing chamber, located between the heater plate and the orifice plate, with minimal pressure loss. The heated gas mixes in the mixing chamber, causing the temperature to become more uniform before the gas exits through the orifice plate to impinge on the product.

Based on the I/O data, a first value of data access activity is determined for the slice corresponding to a first time period, and a second value of data access activity is determined corresponding to a second time period. From the first and second values, an exponential moving average of data access activity is derived for the slice.

A process for creating a facial identification data base using a digital data processing computer system is provided. Entire photographic images of persons are first displayed and picked up by charge coupled solid state image sensors in a camera to produce electrical signals corresponding to the facial images. The sensors are horizontally and vertically disposed within the camera. The electrical signals are serially applied from the sensors to the computer system, where they are digitized and displayed onto the graphics monitor screen. Specific parameters relating to portions of the partial images to be stored are then inserted into the computer. The parameter data is then used to produce partial digitized images representing specific areas of said entire facial images, such as the forehead, nose, mouth or chin. The partial digitized images are produced by masking other areas of the total digitized image. The partial digitized images are then applied to a storage device such as a hard disk to provide the data base.

Computer system resources shared by several central processing units are allocated by allowing one processing unit to temporarily gain exclusive access to a particular shared resource. Access to a particular resource is controlled by a memory location which contains information representing the current state of the resource and the identity of any processing element currently utilizing the resource. In the case where several resources are interchangeable, the memory location may also contain information regarding the busy/idle states of other interchangeable resources. The memory location can be interrogated by any of the processing elements via command and address information. If the contents of the memory location indicate that the associated resource is not in use, then the interrogating processing element immediately obtains control of the resource. If the resource is in use, the identity of the processing element currently using the resource and any stored resource state information is returned to the interrogating processing element which can then continue processing without the resource or choose another idle resource.

The inspection apparatus and method includes memory for storing the desired features of the surface of the substrate, focussed illuminator for substantially uniformly illuminating a region of the surface of the substrate to be inspected. The illumination apparatus is designed to provide substantially uniform focussed illumination along a narrow linear region. This apparatus includes first, second and third reflectors elliptically cylindrical in shape, each with its long axis substantially parallel to the long axes of each of the others. Fourth and fifth reflectors are also included with each being flat and mounted parallel to each other and at opposite ends of each of said first, second and third reflectors, and first, second and third linear light sources each mounted parallel to a corresponding one of said first, second and third reflectors with each of the light sources mounted so that it is at the first focus of the corresponding reflector and the illuminated linear region is at the second focus of each of the first, second and third reflectors.
