Method For Controlling Ground Meat Flow Rates

US Patent:
8172545, May 8, 2012
Filed:
Mar 12, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/046970
Inventors:
Daniel B. Wilke - Waunakee WI, US
Assignee:
Kraft Foods Global Brands LLC - Northfield IL
International Classification:
F04B 49/00
G01N 33/02
US Classification:
417 20, 426231
Abstract:
A method for continuously controlling the flow rate of a meat input stream for making a meat product is disclosed. A flow rate algorithm is provided that depends upon pump speed (RPM) for control of the flow rate. A correction factor provides further control of the system and is dependant upon loss in weight data when meat is not being added. When meat is being added and a new target flow rate is desired, a modified correction factor is calculated based upon a previous error factor and a new initial pump speed based on the new target flow rate. The modified correction factor is used to obtain an adjusted pump speed. The RPM of the pump motor is used as the main control of the flow rate, and the loss in weight data fine tunes this RPM parameter for finer control to better achieve a target flow rate.

Damage Detection System

US Patent:
8594882, Nov 26, 2013
Filed:
Jan 16, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/015217
Inventors:
Daniel D. Wilke - Mesa AZ, US
Assignee:
The Boeing Company - Chicago IL
International Classification:
G06F 13/00
US Classification:
701 327, 701 291
Abstract:
A damage detection system for a vehicle, a machine, and/or another type of structure may comprise a processor, and a plurality of connected transmitters communicatively connected to the processor. The plurality of connected transmitters may be adapted to be attached directly to a vehicle, a machine, and/or another type of structure. Each of the plurality of connected transmitters may be independently configured to only send a coded damage signal to the processor when at least one neighboring transmitter is damaged, and not to send a damage signal to the processor if no neighboring transmitter is damaged. The processor may be programmed to identify a vehicle location of any transmitter which sends a damage signal indicating that at least one neighboring transmitter is damaged. The damage detection system may analyze the damaged area and report potentially affected sub-systems to users of a vehicle, machine, or other structure equipped with the damage detection system.

Ballistic Fire Protection Packaging System

US Patent:
6915861, Jul 12, 2005
Filed:
Sep 18, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/246949
Inventors:
Allen R. Goodworth - Milford CT, US
William E. Lindsay - Mesa AZ, US
Daniel D. Wilke - Mesa AZ, US
Assignee:
The Boeing Company - Chicago IL
International Classification:
A62C003/07
US Classification:
169 66, 169 46, 169 62, 206216, 206461, 206803
Abstract:
The present invention presents a system for packaging fire suppressing material. An outer membrane is configured to support and release a fire suppression material when impacted by a ballistic or incendiary round. An inner membrane is configured to support and release the fire suppression material when impacted by a ballistic or incendiary round, and the inner membrane and the outer membrane is connected to form at least one cell holding the fire suppression material. In accordance with other aspects of the invention, the inner and outer membranes suitably form a bubble pack filled with a fire suppression powder. Further, the inner and outer membranes may be combined with a lightweight honeycomb panel to form a lightweight and simple system to support fuel tanks.

Method And Apparatus For Injecting Dry Solids Particulates Into A Flow Of Ground Meat

US Patent:
5843513, Dec 1, 1998
Filed:
Jan 2, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/778181
Inventors:
Daniel B. Wilke - Waunakee WI
Ralph H. Bethke - Sun Prairie WI
Bonnie M. Hinze - Sun Prairie WI
Assignee:
Kraft Foods, Inc. - Northfield IL
International Classification:
A23L 100
G01F 1100
US Classification:
426646
Abstract:
An apparatus for preparing reduced-fat meat by injecting dry solids such as phosphate powder into a flow of meat supply, includes a passageway for passing the meat therethrough, a ram chamber having a feed ram such that the feed ram is capable of being positioned in any one of a feed position and a fill position, the ram chamber having a particulate opening for entry of dry solids into the ram chamber, and a feed port providing a path for the feeding of the dry solids into the passageway. A control gate is placed generally along the passageway wherein it is capable of opening and closing the feed port. A control assembly is used for controlling the positional movement of the feed ram and the control gate such that the dry solids enter into the ram chamber through the particulate opening as the feed ram travels toward its fill position when the control gate is closed, and such that the control assembly directs the feed ram toward the feed port, blocking the particulate opening, and directs the control gate to the open position, thereby opening the feed port such that the dry solids are injected into the flow of meat supply through the feed port as the feed ram travels toward the feed position.

Bacon Products And Methods Of Making Same

US Patent:
2017035, Dec 14, 2017
Filed:
Dec 8, 2015
Appl. No.:
15/527199
Inventors:
- Chicago IL, US
Daniel B. Wilke - Waunakee WI, US
Timothy D. Schnell - DeForest WI, US
Randall J. Glynn - Fall River WI, US
International Classification:
A23J 3/22
A23L 13/60
Abstract:
A bacon analogue or a reconstructed bacon product having a first component with about 42% lean meat, such as a lean pork muscle and about 58% fat and a second component with at least about 85% lean meat, such as a lean pork muscle is provided. The bacon analogue may have a ratio of first to second components of between about 35:65 to about 65:35 and a total fat percentage of about 28% to about 48%. In another configuration, the ratio of first to second components is about 25:75 to about 75:25. In one approach, the bacon analogue is free from alginate binders and free of emulsified meat. In one configuration, the first and the second components are ground to a size of about 0.125-inch to 0.5-inch. After the first and second components are separately mixed and cured, the components are pumped together into a marbled slab having an appearance similar to a pork-belly, which may then be sliced.
