Elastomeric Seal For A Removable Bottom Founded Structure

US Patent:
4695197, Sep 22, 1987
Filed:
Mar 13, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/839492
Inventors:
Brian J. Watt - Kingwood TX
Dilipkumar N. Bhula - Houston TX
Jal N. Birdy - Kingwood TX
Assignee:
Chevron Research Company - San Francisco CA
International Classification:
E02B 1702
US Classification:
405224
Abstract:
The Removable Bottom Founded Structure (RBFS) is an offshore platform for petroleum drilling and producing operations intended for deployment in waters with severe weather and iceberg conditions. The structure is normally held down by gravity, but during the deballasting procedure a hold-down system is employed to keep the platform on the subbase until site evacuation. The system that is used to hold the platform down onto the subbase is located where the platform meets the subbase. It operates on the principle of hydrostatics. On the underside of the columns there are elastomeric seals that define chambers between the column and the subbase which may be evacuated by pumping. Pressure by the platform weight forces the elastomeric seals down onto the subbase to create a fluid-tight seal so that no seawater will enter the evacuated chambers. The reduction of the buoyancy forces will hold the platform onto the subbase until such time as the platform is totally deballasted. Once that has occurred, the hydrostatic hold-down system is disengaged and the platform will quickly rise to the surface.

Arctic Structure Of Composite Wall Construction

US Patent:
4655642, Apr 7, 1987
Filed:
Feb 1, 1985
Appl. No.:
6/697239
Inventors:
Jal N. Birdy - Houston TX
Brian J. Watt - Houston TX
Jade Chen - Houston TX
Assignee:
Brian Watt Associates, Inc. - Houston TX
International Classification:
E02D 2300
E02D 3100
E04B 504
US Classification:
405217
Abstract:
A structure having a polygonal base and sloping sides forming a frustrum includes a load bearing outer skin which contains an inner assembly and an outer assembly. Both the inner and outer assemblies include a skin plate member which is stiffened by stiffeners welded to one side of the skin plate member. The stiffeners are located at spaced intervals from each other and are disposed substantially perpendicular to the skin plate member. The inner and outer assembly are placed substantially parallel to each other to form a composite structure having an internal cavity defined by the inner and outer plates. The stiffeners of the inner assembly and the outer assembly are disposed in the cavity at a spaced relation to each other and extend partly into the cavity. A cementitious material substantially fills the cavity thereby completing the load bearing outer skin structure. The stiffeners may be flat steel plates or may have the profile of structural shapes such as angles or T's among others.

Multi-Core/Thread Work-Group Computation Scheduler

US Patent:
8056080, Nov 8, 2011
Filed:
Aug 31, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/551515
Inventors:
Benjamin G. Alexander - Austin TX, US
Gregory H. Bellows - Austin TX, US
Joaquin Madruga - Austin TX, US
Brian D. Watt - Round Rock TX, US
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F 9/46
G06F 15/00
G06T 15/00
US Classification:
718102, 718103, 718104, 345522, 712 28, 712200, 712215, 712220
Abstract:
Execution units process commands from one or more command queues. Once a command is available on the queue, each unit participating in the execution of the command atomically decrements the command's work groups remaining counter by the work group reservation size and processes a corresponding number of work groups within a work group range. Once all work groups within a range are processed, an execution unit increments a work group processed counter. The unit that increments the work group processed counter to the value stored in a work groups to be executed counter signals completion of the command. Each execution unit that access a command also marks a work group seen counter. Once the work groups processed counter equals the work groups to be executed counter and the work group seen counter equals the number of execution units, the command may be removed or overwritten on the command queue.

Be The House Gaming System

US Patent:
2019036, Nov 28, 2019
Filed:
May 25, 2018
Appl. No.:
15/989758

Brian C. Watt - Germantown MD, US
International Classification:
G07F 17/32
A63F 13/335
Abstract:
A wager based gaming system administered and controlled by a hosting operator licensed by a gaming regulatory body provides a player with the ability to apply for becoming a house type participant that is allowed to assume a house position for a substantial amount of time and number of consecutive wager based games against other players. This can include accepting input from the player regarding applying to become a house type participant, facilitating the qualification of the player as eligible, and administering multiple wager based games on with the qualified player acting as a house type participant and other players acting as player type participants. Player qualification can include determining the ability of the player to assume a sufficient amount of risk. Fraud Detection Within An Electronic Payment System

US Patent:
2004014, Jul 29, 2004
Filed:
Jan 23, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/351560
Inventors:
Arnold Bramnick - Boca Raton FL, US
Mark Sehorne - Round Rock TX, US
Brian Watt - Austin TX, US

Abstract:
Provided are techniques for the managing of command queue dependencies and command queue synchronization. Incoming commands are actively tracked through their dependency relationships. Command dependencies may be tracked across multiple lists, including a submission list and a completion list. Each command on the submission list is prepared for processing and ultimately submitted to command processing logic. Command completion processing is performed on each command on the completion list, including by not limited to removing dependencies from pending commands and possibly queuing pending commands for submission to the command processing logic. Also provided as features of a command queue are a standby barrier, an active barrier and a marker.
