Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my profile! My name is Bob Mitchell (NMLS # 1046286)and I am a senior loan officer with Bank of England's Raleigh, North Carolina mortgage origination office (NMLS # 418481). I've been in the real estate and mortgage banking industries since 1984 in a number of different roles. I started as a property manager and soon moved into being a residential real estate agent. After a few years of doing that, I was recruited to be a loan officer with a mortgage company focusing primarily on large commercial mortgages. After "Black Monday" hit and it became obvious that the bottom had fallen out of commercial mortgages, I switched to originating residential mortgages. I worked for a couple of different national lenders until an opportunity came up to move into management at a small mortgage brokerage called, Clayton Mortgage back in my home town of St. Louis. There, I helped grow the company to the point where we were a major player in that market. In the process, I was promoted to VP and became responsible for all aspects of running the company. In 1995, I ventured out on my own, forming a company called ValueList Real Estate Services, which turned out, to the best of my knowledge, to be the 3rd oldest discount real estate company in the country. My team and I grew ValueList to the point where we had offices in Florida, Illinois and Missouri. In 2010, after weathering the worst of the financial meltdown, I closed up shop and returned to school to study renewable energy. I graduated and moved to Southern California where I worked as a renewable energy project developer. In 2011, my wife secured her dream job here in the Raleigh area and I followed her here and eventually returned to the mortgage banking industry. I selected Bank of England to go to work for because I was impressed with the wide variety of mortgage programs that they offer and because I was very impressed with the branch manager here in Raleigh. I very much enjoy working with first time home buyers and other people who might have been shut out of buying a home due to the financial crises. To that end, I hold financial literacy workshops designed to help people build wealth and security through learning how to budget, save, invest and purchase their own homes.
